How can you describe 30,000 islands? Geographically, the area is usually divided up into the northern, middle and southern archipelago. There is also an inner and outer area, from the city in the west to the outer skerries in the west. The character of the islands are different, depending on which are of the archipelago they are found in and you can find everything from large wood-covered islands with harbours and large communities to flat skerries only inhabited by sea birds.

In order to have a good visit to the archipelago, it is important that your destination matches your expectations. If you are looking for tranquillity and peace then certain places are perfect for you, but if you are looking for dining out, music and action then you should, of course, be aiming for a completely different destination.
