Gräsö
and Örskär are the most northerly islands of Roslagen in the Stockholm archipelago. You can get here by car using the public ferry from Öregrund. Örskär is north of Gräsö and you can visit during the summer using you own boat or by taking the hostel boat from Gräsö. There is a pre-school and primary school on Gräsö, along with an ICA grocery store and a family campsite with restaurant and crazy golf. You also find craft shops, bric-a-brac and a garden centre there. Other shops and services can be found in Öregrund.

Most of Örskär is a nature reserve and it is particularly valued by bird watchers and for its unique flora. There is a lighthouse here open to the public and the hostel is right next to it.

History
Traditionally, the inhabitants have lived for the main part off fishing, hunting and farming. There are about 850 permanent residents on the island. Gräsö gård (farm) is one of the royal estates founded by Gustav Vasa in 1549. Gräsö church was commenced in 1695 and opened in 1697. The sacristy was built in 1753 as part of the rebuilding after the Russian ravages of 1719. In 1997, the church was restored to celebrate its 300-year anniversary.
