Nässlingen
Lat: N 59º 29' 3.38"
Long: E 18º 40' 47.41"
The small island of Nässlingen lies between Ljusterö and Svartsö. In the 1940s an old farmstead was converted into a holiday village for construction workers. There is a large conference centre here with a hotel and restaurant. There are several holiday villages on the island and the nearby island of Gistholmen, which is also part of the centre. On Nässlingen there is a sauna, a football pitch, barbecue areas and a jogging track. You can also rent sailboats and rowing boats. In the water around the islands there are plenty of perch, pike, zander and whitefish.
How to get there
Communications to the conference centre are good all year round.
Take bus 621 from Åkersberga station to Åsättra on Ljusterö. You cross to Ljusterö on the public ferry. You can also get to Åsättra by car. Take the E18 north from Stockholm and then route 276 to Åkersberga. From there, drive north to Östanå. From there the public ferry goes to Ljusterö.
Nässlingen has their own boats that collect from Åsättra on Ljusterö or in Stockholm. When the sea is frozen the boats are replaced by hovercraft.

History
Nässlingen was originally an archipelago farmstead, which was closed in the 1940s when a holiday village was built for construction workers. At Kvarnholmen, south of the harbour, you can see the remains of a windmill and on the southern tip of Nässlingen are remains from an early settlement. The development of Nässlingen into the existing conference centre began in 1977.
